This is a useful book for people who are interested in making mosaics as art rather than craft. It's not a book for people who want to make decorative pots for the patio. There are very few mosaic books which cover the human form so its quite handy to have as a reference. It would be an interesting read for Goodwin fans too as you get a glimpse into her family life as she has chosen to depict various family members in mosaic. There is a section of works from other artists which is interesting as I have only come across one of these artists before (in a French language mosaic book) and I have quite a number of mosaic books; you often see the same works featured again and again. Only gripe:I would have liked to have seen some examples using other materials rather than just smalti because most of us don't have access to smalti and it would have added more variety to the projects.
I started taking a class on how to create mosaic and I found it incredible.this book is for those artists that want to work with the nude form.It also gives you an idea of using big pieces of tiles,or porcelaine,including stone.It gives you ideas many of them to implement in your artwork with stones.
Very good book, educative. A good help for beginners or advanced mosaists in mosaic who want to represent the human form. Nice diversity of treatment. I use this book for my mosaic courses
Book is informative and helpful for mosaicists who are starting out studying the human form in mosaics. There are some projects to help students start their mosaic journey on human form, but I would have liked more challenging projects and perhaps some examples of much more involved pieces to inspire students towards what they might strive.
